Back in the Groove

What a week! We arrived in Amelia Island a little over a week ago and the weather has been gorgeous! We have been able to be very active and outside every day. Being here has reminded me of why I moved away from the Northeast all those years ago. I really need sun, lots of sun. So, what have we been up to?

Walking, Lots of Walking

There is so much do to on the island. Winding roads that you can walk, bike, or use a golf cart on leading you to incredible views of nature from trees, to birds and squirrels (tree rats here apparently), to golf courses. No matter where you walk, you will find so much to look at and enjoy. Really, the blogs while I am here are going to be more pictures than anything. I cannot stop taking pictures of everything! Here are a few from the property around the house.

We also have been able to get up early and see the sunrise over the ocean. For someone who has lived on the West Coast for the last 11 years, seeing the sunrise over the ocean brought up some great memories! No filter on this folks!

And don't forget those sunsets over the golf course. Eric has been in heaven being able to bring a club for our early morning and late evening walks with the dogs on the golf course. I've enjoyed finding all the balls people have left behind!

Golf Tournament

The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass to be exact. We were lucky enough to get tickets to an event that was set at 20% capacity. I don't even know where to start! The day was beautiful, sunny, and hot with a slight breeze that blew through the palm trees. I was sad that Tiger wasn't able to make it but glad he is recovering. I tend to stare more at the people than at the actual golfing part, and with fewer crowds, it made this even more enjoyable.

My favorite hole!!! Can you guess why?! Usually, I love watching the balls go into the sand pit, I've even "accidentally" cheered from time to time. This course had an incredible hole that was right in the middle of the water! Eric promised I would see lots of balls splash! It was more like rolled than splashed and more like a few than lots but still wonderful! When we got home, Eric hit some in the water for me which made the day even better.

Not being a meat-eater, I am always a little concerned when it comes to finding food at events like this. Luckily, Homespun Kitchen was there! My mom and I both got the Marley which was avocado toast on a thick piece of homemade bread, topped with carrots, red pepper, red onion, and scratch sweet heat sauce. It was incredible. I'm not one for anything spicy and this had just the right amount of mild heat.

Overall, an amazing day. The one thing we really missed out on was getting a picture of me and Eric and my parents. Have to remember that next time! Eric and I took many silly pictures. And by that, I mean Eric was smiling and I was making ridiculous faces. I'll spare you. I was auditioning for a role as a lobster by the end of the day but it was worth it!

Boating

My Aunt Patty and Uncle Ames moved to the island shortly after my parents did which means we get bonus family time when we come to visit! They own a boat that we went out on last Saturday. AND WE SAW DOLPHINS!!! Lots of them, baby dolphins, big dolphins. Heaven.

We boated around the coast and checked out the naval base, from afar of course. We didn't get to see a submarine coming in but hopefully, we do while we are here. Guess what!!! There is a bridge THAT TURNS SO TRAINS CAN GO ACROSS THE WATER. I didn't get a pic but I will next time and you will look at it and love it. Hopefully, we get to see it turn at some point. SO EXCITING!

The picture on the left above is from when we went past the downtown area and the picture on the right is a sailboat that was run aground during the last hurricane. Sad for the owner, makes for great sightseeing though.

We docked at St. Marys in Georgia for some shopping and lunch. A quaint town that was destroyed during one of the last hurricanes, definitely worth stopping to check it out while in the area. We had lunch at 401 West overlooking the water. Even though it was a hot day, there was a nice breeze on the patio of the restaurant, and was a great place to stop.

An incredible day on the boat, we can't wait to do it again!

Congratulations Jazzy!

Jasmine has been amazing since we got here. We brought the dogs to doggie daycare for a try-out and decided to bring Jazzy also. Cody and Emma are daycare pros and mostly love going (Cody would always rather be with his momma). We've tried to bring Jazzy to daycare at least 5 times before and she never passes the evaluation, poor nervous Jazzy. Well, SHE PASSED!!! She has now gone twice. While it probably isn't her favorite thing to do, it's good for her to socialize with other dogs and she has her brother to protect her. She has also been a walking fiend! Walked 6 miles with me and mom the other day. I think she has figured out that the more she walks the more food I give her so she doesn't lose too much weight. A tired but happy Jazzy!

This Week

We are planning on doing some biking, golfing, and more boating this week. Sunset happy hour cruise anyone? Can't wait for what is in store for this week but also want the time to slow down!!!!

Until next time.
