Going Strong!

What a great and packed week! I've officially hit 22 days of closing all of my rings on my Apple Watch. For those that don't have an apple watch, this means I hit a specific move, exercise, and stand goal each day. Last fall, that streak would not have been impressive. Given the cold weather before Florida and the issues with doggie arthritis, this streak is one I am proud of and will continue to hit each day. I'll report back for accountability.

Now on to the fun part!

Pool Time

We finally got some beautifully hot weekend weather for pool time!! Cody got some great floating time in and the girls got their tan on! We did try to get Jazzy to float but she decided it wasn't her thing. Cody was happy with that outcome. The outdoor temperature was in the high 80s and the pool was cold but really refreshing. A pool is definitely on the wish list for a future house. We got some night hot tub time in too under the full moon but unfortunately, we were having too much fun to get pictures.

Biking

We've gone on some incredible bike rides since we have been here. Amelia Island has so many pathways for walking and biking that keep you away from any main roads. In fact, Amelia Island has been rated one of Florida's best places to bike.

We pretty much stopped biking when we moved to LA because there are entirely too many cars to make me feel comfortable biking on the streets. Another major difference in outdoor activities from the East Coast to Southern California is the tree cover. You are ALWAYS in the sun in So Cal. On the East Coast, you get tree cover, which is not only practical for keeping you partially shielded from the sun but is also incredibly beautiful to look at. Emma and Jazzy had to sit this one out. Jazzy refuses to sit in a sling, and Emma is still having trouble with her legs so running next to us wasn't an option. They were there in spirit! Cody clearly was not enjoying himself. Spoiled much?

Check out this website for some great places to bike while at Amelia Island!

Golfing

Eric finally got a round in! We played at The Golf Club at Amelia Island. To be specific, Eric and my parents played, I drove the golf cart and kept score. And a damn good job I did! I am apparently obsessed with the water holes because that is all I took pictures of! I didn't even get shots of everyone golfing. I did get a good shot of Eric's swing and some more water.

Unfortunately, Eric came in last. The dogs scored very well, getting multiple holes in one and even an albatross! To be honest, I did a terrible job at keeping score for Eric. I always got distracted after the first few hits and forgot. I know you are all terribly surprised about that. I did do an AMAZING job at driving the golf cart, however.

Beach time

We went to Burney Park to enjoy some sand! There was plenty of parking, though I'm sure that is different in the summer, as well as toilets and showers to wash off your feet after coming off the sand. One of the coolest things was the fact that you can drive your truck right onto the beach in certain areas to unload anything you would need to have a fun-filled beach day. Someone even brought a HUGE meat smoker. At this time of year, fishermen are allowed to be along the beach as well which prevented us from a continuous walk down the beach with our feet in the water. But overall it wasn't a big deal. During the high season, fishermen are restricted to certain areas since the beach is more crowded.

Poor Jazzy and Emma!!! Due to Emma's arthritis and Jazzy's all-around craziness, Cody was the only dog that made it to the beach with us. Another win in Cody's book, and a bout of good old Irish guilt for momma. Cody loved getting his feet wet and looking for lobster tails. Can you believe I didn't take any other pictures while were there? Was having too much fun I suppose!

Birthdays and Visitors

It was Eric's birthday this past weekend! We are getting old; I'll tell you that much.

Happy Birthday to my best friend, my ride or die, my person. We've had 15 years of fun and adventure and I'm looking forward to all that is coming for us. We are only getting started! Me and the kids love you so much. Cheers! Sláinte! Santé! Kanpai! Chone Gaow!

And! His parents got to visit! It is always great getting our parents together, not to mention how great it was to have his parents here for his birthday! I really did a TERRIBLE job this week with pictures. It's really ridiculous that I didn't get any of the six of us. The good news? We got tons of family time in and had tons of fun, which is 100% worth forgetting to take pictures.

Ahhhh, we are on our last week in Amelia Island. I'm already so sad but am excited to enjoy the rest of our time here.

Until Next Time.
