So here I lay, on an air mattress in an empty house with three dogs and another human, wondering, am I a crazy person?
We are all about to embark on a journey, a road trip around the US to be exact. This week has been a long one, moving things to storage (if it didn't fit in a 10x10 space it was getting donated, sold or tossed), cleaning, planning the eleventh-hour details and getting those last-minute pictures to remember the places we love to go. That last one proved to be quite the challenge; we finally got the below picture by yelling "squirrel" (lying to us again human?!).
Yes, we are well aware that there is a global pandemic going on. My husband and I are lucky enough to have jobs where we can work from anywhere right now. We will be staying in vacation rentals, keeping to ourselves and exploring nature with the pups.
This option couldn't have been more perfect for us. Like most people, we are ready for a change. Traveling around and staying in vacation rentals means we can travel safely to parts of the country we have never seen, without having to commit to anything long-term all while supporting local businesses. Win-win-win in Michael Scott terms.
So we are doing it and have promised ourselves that we will commit to a year. Really, my only concern is that no place will feel quite like "home" and I am excited to see how we feel once we start. We will be staying in most locations for a month and have planned out our trip until early April 2021 so far. Starting in Oregon, traveling to New Orleans, Arizona, Nashville, South Carolina and Florida. Then who knows! Good suggestions on things to do and places to go are always welcome.
Here we go; wish us luck!
Bonus Content - The below gem is one of the many we took in our quest to get the perfect shot. I'd say we need some practice!
Love that quote!
So excited to follow your journey!! Makes me think of the quote, "Not All Who Wander Are Lost."
Thanks Will, hope all is well. We’re very excited and lucky enough to both have jobs where we can work remotely right now.
I look forward to hearing your story and seeing your pictures. Eric as you embark on this trip, I am glad you don't work for me as I wouldn't be able to afford you leaving during this crazy time. Safe travels.
As you embark on your journey, I’m wishing both of you many wonderful adventures with lots of happiness and love
