New York, New York

We are almost halfway through 2021! A much different year than 2020 and one that seems to be flying much faster.

We were pretty boring this week with the long drive, vet visits and getting the kids used to a less grassy bathroom routine. All of which set us up for the next couple of months in the city.

Both Eric and I grew up close to the city, me in Connecticut and him in Jersey. So, this trip will be about having fun but also about seeing family and friends. We couldn't be more excited.

Location, Location, Location

We chose Battery Park City in lower Manhattan because it's one of the most dog-friendly areas of Manhattan. We were lucky enough to score corporate housing with a good-sized balcony. The pictures above are the view from our balcony. Not doing too bad on the 22nd floor! There is a dog park below us on the street, and while our dogs are too old and grumpy for dog parks nowadays, they love barking back at the dogs from high up.

We are just steps away from the Hudson and have some nice views of Jersey City. So far so good. No dog accidents and getting used to no grass for the time being. You can tell they all really missed having an outside area they could go in and out on their own with the amount of time they spend on the balcony.

Long Walks and Dog Strollers

Hudson River Greenway has a walking and biking path separated from car traffic and running up the west side of Manhattan. There is plenty of space to walk or ride with plenty to stop and do along the way such as dog parks, mini-golf, a winery, Chelsea Piers with bowling and a driving range and so much more.

As I've mentioned before, Emma has been struggling with her elbows lately. Despite the vet giving us some shots that I now give her twice a week (yep, you heard that right). We decided we couldn't stand leaving her home when we went on our long walks. We wanted her with us for our long walks like we used to. We got an amazing deal on the best large dog stroller out there because of Amazon's Prime Day. I was nervous she would be scared or would hate it. Well, that was an unnecessary worry. They ALL loved it. Even Cody and Jazzy decided there was no reason for them to walk in the heat and humidity when we could push them. They loved it, and we loved having Emma be able to come with us. We made it 8 miles total on Saturday. We had hoped to go a little more but it was really hot and humid, and we forgot suntan lotion so Eric and I both got torched. We will be doing it again soon for sure.

Golfing

Eric has been dying to play Bethpage Black one of his bucket list courses. He patiently waited for a spot to open and was able to score a tee time last Friday! The below sign is what he saw when he steps up to the first tee. Can you imagine? I would have just left. Then again, I don't golf which I am reminded of every time I say "sand pit" or I cheer when a ball goes in said "sand pit".

Needless to say, he killed it (per usual) and had a great time. Until the three-hour drive back to the city.

We have a ton planned for this week, including a trip to see The Boss. Can't wait to share it with you!

Until Next Time.
